Bafta Awards 2023
How many of you watched the Bafta Awards 2023? I bet millions. The magnetic pull for me was to see the costumes of all the elite and famous. My eyes scanned the TV screen for all the outfits of the women present there, eyes popping at the gorgeousness of it all. Forget the men, they just blend in 
Hosted by the ever-quirky and chirpy Alison Hammond. This is one lady that I look out for, I like her, she’s funny and real, and of course Richard E Grant, the suave, elegant, English gentleman.
Through all the pearls and the sequins, beautiful and swanky as they were worn by their owners, the only one that took my heart was the wholesome and touching story of Barry Keoghan. And he certainly did not blend it. He stood out in the glory that is his presence, grit, determination, and can-do attitude. He is the inspiration to never give up on your dreams no matter what situation you are in. Life itself is a challenge, we need to keep swimming and keep our heads above water, fight for what we want because we know we have it in us.
Barry Keoghan, an Irish lad, grew up in hardship and uncertainty. Lived by the directions of social services, moving from one foster home to another, totaling 13 foster homes, until finally reunited with his grandmother, aunt, and older sister.
His life would be a script worth writing, and a movie worth making. It is the struggle and tribulation of a young lad and many others just like him, who is determined to follow his dream, a lad who knows his worth and his talent, and a lad who did not give up.
Let us all take Barry Keoghan as our real-life topmost inspirational person. Calling all youth to look toward him and see the results, take a page out of his book, and rewrite your life for a better tomorrow. If Barry can do it, you can too.
According to research, he has been nominated for numerous awards in the entertainment industry. 16 times and won 6 times. The latest was of course the Bafta Awards 2023 for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin.
I do not know him personally, but my heart swelled with emotions, and I bet his story would affect everybody who cared enough and was curious enough to look up and search for Barry Keoghan.
Note to self: Must watch The Banshees of Inisherin.
