Harry & Meghan

Harry and Meghan

The love story that is Harry & Meghan, is a love story, period. The path that leads to finding our soulmate was the path that Harry & Meghan took, just like all of us, in our journey of life and love. Forget for a second that they are famous, forget that they are known the world over, just remember they are humans just like you and me, trying to make a life, a married life, the love journey that they have joined in sickness and in health, in hard times and in happy times, and so on.

Since the beginning of their journey, it was magical to watch, just like a fairy tale that we are so adapted to since our childhood of the ‘happy ever after’ stories that engulf us in our growing up years! But it’s not as simple as that for them, they have to make do with the trolls and the haters, the misogynists, the racism, the onslaught of the newspapers (who are supposed to be telling the truth, the number one rule of journalism).

I watched the Netflix documentary, I stared, and cried, and felt the pain, the dilemma, the suppression, the oppression, the exploitation, the lies, the devastating and sad mental effect they experienced and still experiencing, the non-existent support from the royal family and the vast majority of the public, the news media, tabloids, the harassment, and grew more and more in awe of the strength these two have, the love, respect, and support they have for each other. I ended up binge-watching till the end. It’s like a good book that is hard to put down.
Hats off to the small minority of the public who supported them and keeps defending them, and the strong and solid friends who hugged them close and have become pillars of support and love they both needed so much, you all are superstars literally!

The institution, the Firm, the whatever you prefer to call it, is an organization that is based on a topmost priority and that is to gain the good opinion of the public (in this case by using twisted, inappropriate, misogynist targeting means), and they will play all tricks in the book to stay in the good books, even throwing their own flesh and blood in front of the bus, but if it fits their purpose, to hell with it, throw their son, their brother, their daughter-in-law, their grandkids to the wolves. And they have the audacity to walk with their heads held high as if they were created by the gods, and hence are untouchable.

I use to have so much admiration for the story and history that is the Royals. But since the hapless and sudden demise of the most famous person who belonged to the Royal Family, Princess Diana, everything just dwindled into hopelessness.

Harry is a son, who loves his family, but does the family love him back? Harry is a husband that loves his wife, and his wife loves him back, giving up everything to be with him, to adapt to his way of life, and to conform to the norms and stupid rules of the royal family. If she fitted the persona of a fair maiden, I bet it would have been a totally different outcome. But she turns out to be this new generation of strong women, with a biracial background, a different skin tone and hair texture, a woman who has been through the ups and downs of the slippery path of growing up and maturing, a woman who stands on her own feet financially and is so independent, a woman who is in the limelight, a woman so beautiful that she captures every heart of the people and the charities she supports, a woman who is not afraid to speak. This woman is the woman of the new world, and by god, they do not want her taking all the limelight!! She is the perfect representation to vie for the love of the commonwealth countries, and they blew it. The Commonwealth countries are watching. One question that pops up is, has the Monarchy evolved into the current modern way of thinking???? or are they still set back to the times of invasion?…..Barbados has officially removed Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state and become the world’s newest republic.

To all the trolls, the haters, the keyboard supposedly warriors, the narcissist, the misogynists, the jealousy, the racism, the ones who think they are fighters, please direct your overwhelming passion of hatred toward the despicable crimes against children and humanity and to curb it from affecting our innocent children, direct your trolling towards the big brass that holds the joystick to make the poor poorer and the rich richer, direct your keyboard skills towards saving the world from the ongoing disaster of climate change, direct your minds to the conflicting wars around the world, the oppression of women and senseless killing of youths in Iran, let your voice be heard for the helpless homeless people, make yourself aware of what mental health is, you never know you might suffer as such one day, because, Mental Health doesn’t pick and choose.

To the newspapers who punched, plundered, and targeted the couple for being who they are, I have one question for you, What does journalism stand for? Is printing the truth a thing of the past? Is making money from lies a way for you to sleep peacefully at night? Disgusting. Maybe you all should do a refresher course on the ‘Rules of Journalism‘.

Here is a little snapshot to refresh your minds on the scope and responsibility of journalism….

  1. Full responsibility and obligation to tell the TRUTH
  2. LOYALTY to the Public above their own self-interest or assumptions, without fear or favour
  3. Verification of Information. Such information reported should not be in the likes of propaganda, advertising, fiction, pure gossipy entertainment, or falsehood.
  4. Maintain an independent approach from those they cover. Possess or learn the spirit of having an open-mindedness and intellectual responsibility toward curiosity and look beyond the negative elements of class or economic status, ethnicity, religion, race, gender, and so on.
  5. Be the watchdog or independent monitoring tool for the public and their interest. Be the voice of the public, “watching over the powerful few in society on behalf of the many to guard against tyranny,” Kovach and Rosenstiel write.
  6. Be open and welcoming to public criticism and be willing to compromise to make it better, and ‘DO IT RIGHT’.
